HONK! Closes to Rave Reviews

HONK!, Theatricks second show of the 2008-2009 season, sold-out six of its eight performances, and closed with great success!

A winning relationship between Theatricks Director Webster Crocker and Music Director Sylvia Rivers and Choreographer Amy Dean has proven to be a great fit for Theatricks musicals, not to mention the wonderfully creative costumes created by Tammi Daubenspeck and Betty Harper and their crew.

Even with the introduction of two new cast members for HONK!, the second weekend of performances went without a hitch and added a new flavor to parts of the production. Due to a Sherman High School Spring Break Choir Trip, Jeffery Hunter, who played the part of Drake, was replaced by Brooks Burton on the second weekend. Darius Thomas, who played Bullfrog, was replaced by Josh Harris, and Daren Thomas, who was Father Swan, was replaced by Alex Leanch. The entire cast of 26 and crew helped to make HONK! a memorable performance for Theatricks!

If you missed this production don't fret, because auditions are around the corner for Theatricks last production of this season, A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD, another musical. Auditions are Tuesday and Wednesday, May 26 and 27 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Honey McGee Playhouse.

Theatricks Advisory Council Selects Shows for 2009-2010 Season

The Theatricks Advisory Council has recently selected a slate of shows for Theatricks 2009-2010 season, and it has been approved by the Sherman Community Players Board of Directors.

Theatricks will open their new season with the musical WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY September 5 & 6 in the historic Kidd-Key Auditorium, and that is not all, it will include the flying effects of special effects company ZFX.

The spring show will be YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN March 5-14, 2010 in the Honey McGee Playhouse, and the summer show will be THE BFG (Big Friendly Giant) July 9-18, 2010, also in the Honey McGee Playhouse.

This line up of shows will be a great season and one not to be missed. Look for more information about the new season to be forth-coming. Sponsorships for these productions are now being accepted, so come join us in creating the magic of theatre for our community.

Theatricks Still Enrolling for Spring Workshops

Students at Fall Workshops

Workshop students perform a scene from THE TRIAL OF THE BIG, BAD WOLF.

If you haven't signed up your child for Theatricks Spring Workshops, don't worry, there is still time.

Theatricks Spring Workshops will be April 6 through April 30 with classes broken down by age groupings. The age 4 and Kindergarten class will be on Monday and Wednesday from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. with the 3rd and 4th grade class also on Monday and Wednesday from 5 to 6 p.m. Then on Tuesday and Thursday from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. will be the 1st and 2nd grade class, followed by the 5th through 8th grade class from 5 to 6 p.m.

The classes help to teach an introduction to the theatre arts through very fun games and exercises. The classes culminate with a small performance the last class day, demonstrating what the child has learned in the class.

Tuition for the classes is $60, (if paid before the first day of class, $70 on the first day of class), and scholarships to pay half the tuition cost are available through the Elizabeth Halsell Russell Scholarship Fund.

Class sizes are limited, so don't wait too long to enroll!
