Melissa Levine's Career Study

After three very fulfilling months, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to report to the Theatricks' readers about all of my wonderful experiences. I have enjoyed working with Web, Ron, and the different board members for both Theatricks and Sherman Community Players. My most rewarding project has been designing next years' season brochure. This has been a very informative and challenging project. I have learned how to interact with members of the community and to report back to board members. This was the first time that I was in charge of designing a marketing brochure. It has proved to be a very enlightening experience.

There have been other projects that I have helped with as well. Recently, I am assisting Web in preparing for workshops. I have helped select costumes, set pieces, and helped Web with writing the script for Candy Land. During The Secret Garden, I was able to help with the sound track. I also was able to go onto the morning news and help promote the show with some of the cast and crew members. It was a great experience to be associated with this wonderful performance.

It has been a marvelous experience working with Web. I have learned a tremendous amount. I am ecstatic that my Career Study at Sherman Community Players has reassured me of my life long goal of owning my own theatre. The only disappointing thing is that I did not get involved with Sherman Community Players earlier in my college career. I will truly miss my involvement with this "community" of wonderful people. I hope to be able to keep in touch and find out about all of SCP's future successes.

Spring Workshops

The spring workshops have kicked off and are going strong. The children have selected the plays they will be performing. The four year olds to kindergartners will be performing Candy Land on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at 3:45 pm in the Honey McGee Playhouse. The first and second graders have selected Jack and the Beanstalk as their play. Their performance will be on Thursday, April 26, 2007 at 3:45 pm in the Honey McGee Playhouse. The third and fourth graders will be performing The Emperor's New Clothes on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at 5 pm in the Honey McGee Playhouse. And last but certainly not least, the fifth through eighth graders have elected to perform selected scenes from The Hobbit on Thursday, April 26th at 5 pm in the Honey McGee Playhouse.

All of the different classes are working tremendously hard in preparing for their aforementioned performance date. They all have wonderful potential and I personally can not wait to attend.

Improvisation Workshop

BJ Cleveland

BJ Cleveland

BJ Cleveland, Artistic Director at Theatre Arlington, will be holding an improvisation workshop. This workshop will take place on Saturday, April 21, 2007 from 10 am to 12 noon. It will be a morning full of both entertainment and a wonderful opportunity to learn about improvisation. If you enjoy the show, Who's Line is It Anyway? then you will most likely take pleasure in this event. There is no fee for this workshop.

Theatricks Thanks Caskey Orthodontics for its Past Sponsorships

As Theatricks gets ready to start up a new season, Theatricks is having to do so without Caskey Orthodontics this year who has stepped aside from sponsoring to give new businesses a chance to participate.

Caskey Orthodontics Staff

Caskey Orthodontics Staff

Dr. Jim L. Caskey, owner of Caskey Orthodontics, has been a good and loyal supporter of the Theatricks program for over six years now. Dr. Caskey even served on the Theatricks Advisory Council helping to make good decisions about the direction of Theatricks. For the past three seasons, Caskey Orthodontics was Theatricks season sponsor which helped to bring in big name shows like SEUSSICAL, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, and PETER PAN.

Dr. Caskey, Theatricks wants you to know how much we really do appreciate you and your commitment to the community—THANK YOU!

The House at Pooh Corner

THE HOUSE AT POOH CORNER

Theatricks is going to be holding auditions Tuesday and Wednesday, May 29 and 30 at 6:30 p.m. in the Honey McGee Playhouse for their summer show THE HOUSE AT POOH CORNER. There will be lots of parts for a wide variety of ages, and all that is required is to read from the script. Theatricks 2007-2008 Season

Believe it or not it is already time for a new season. Theatricks is proud to announce the upcoming season. The 2007-2008 season sponsor is TexomaCare Pediatrics. In the fall, The Wizard of Oz will be whirling through town. It was originally scheduled to open on Friday, September 7, 2007 but due to the Sherman High School football team's home game, the show will now open on Saturday, September 8, 2007. There will be both a matinee and evening performance on Saturday and then another performance on Sunday, September 9, 2007. St. Mary's School is sponsoring The Wizard of Oz.

The second show of the season will be Anne of Green Gables sponsored by Outreach Health Services. It will open on February 29, 2008. There will also be performances on March 1, 2, 7, 8, and 9, 2008. The third and final show for the season will be Aladdin (a Disney Musical). Currently there is no sponsor for this show. Aladdin will perform on July 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, and 20, 2008.

Don't forget to become a Theatricks season member. It is quite a deal! You essentially get three shows for the price of two. Season members will save the admission price for one show. This year Theatricks will be doing something different. Theatricks Season Membership will only be on sale for three months, June through August. So do not wait until the last minute. Adult membership will cost $20 and senior citizens and students are both $16. We hope to hear from you soon about becoming a season member.

Another Supporting Cast Member Becomes a Master Thespian

Elise Hebert, a sophomore at Sherman High School, recently became a Master Thespian by fulfilling the requirements and turning in her reporting sheets.

Elise Hebert

Elise Hebert as Jo March in
LITTLE WOMEN

Elise first got started in Theatricks as a rabbit in THE HOUSE AT POOH CORNER presented in the summer of 1999, and since that time she has performed and assisted with many of the SCP Mainstage and Theatricks productions. Elise helped to bring the character of Jo March to life in the spring of 2006 in Theatricks production of LITTLE WOMEN, and served as Assistant Director for Theatricks production this spring of THE SECRET GARDEN.

Elise is currently serving as the treasurer for the Supporting Cast, and looks forward to helping the Supporting Cast take a trip to the Las Colinas Movie Studios this summer. Keep up the good work!

The Supporting Cast meets the second Thursday of every month at 6 p.m. at the Honey McGee Playhouse, and is geared toward 6th through 12 graders.
